Explanation

On 14 August 2020, the then president Dr Arif Alvi presented Nishan-e-Pakistan to Kashmiri Hurriyat leader, Syed Ali Shah Geelani for his noteworthy services and sacrifices for the oppressed people of Indian occupied Kashmir.

Syed Ali became the 27th foreign recipients of Nishan-e-Pakistan.

Explanation

Initial Suspension: After a coup in 1977, the 1973 constitution was suspended. 

First Restoration (1985):

The constitution was revived in 1985, but with the 8th Amendment, which gave the President significant powers. 

Further Power Shifts:

The 17th Amendment in 2003 further consolidated the President's powers,

But the 18th Amendment in 2010 removed the President's discretionary power to dissolve the National Assembly.
