The greatest crisis Akbar faced in 1580 was when disgruntled aristocrats and officers declared Akbar's half-brother, Mirzahakim, as ruler. The most valuable acquisition of Akbar on the northwest frontier was Kandahar. After conquering Asirgarh in 1601, Akbar renamed Kadesh to Dandesh.
