Essay in English: Blessings and Evils of Money
Money is an essential part of human life. It provides comfort, security, and the ability to fulfil our needs. When used wisely, money becomes a blessing; but when misused or pursued blindly, it can turn into a source of destruction. Therefore, money itself is neither good nor evil—its value depends on how humans use it.
One of the greatest blessings of money is that it helps people meet their basic necessities such as food, clothing, shelter, education, and healthcare. A financially stable person can live with dignity and support his family. Money also allows individuals to help the poor, contribute to charitable causes, and take part in the welfare of society. With money, nations progress, businesses grow, and people find employment. Thus, money plays a significant role in improving the quality of life.
However, if money becomes the central goal of life, it can lead to harmful consequences. Greed for wealth causes moral corruption, dishonesty, and injustice. Many people adopt unfair means such as bribery, theft, fraud, and exploitation to acquire more money. Excessive love of wealth also weakens relationships, creates jealousy, and increases social inequality. In extreme cases, the desire for money can cause wars, crimes, and the breakdown of society.
Islam teaches a balanced approach toward wealth. It encourages earning through lawful means, spending wisely, avoiding extravagance, and helping the needy. Money should remain in our hands—not in our hearts. When used responsibly, it becomes a source of comfort in this world and reward in the hereafter.
In conclusion, money is both a blessing and a test. It can build a society or destroy it. The true value of money depends on human intentions and actions. Therefore, we should earn it honestly, spend it sensibly, and use it for the betterment of others.
