The Anti- Terrorism Act promulgated in 1997 with the stated purpose of “prevention of terrorism, sectarian violence and for speedy trial of heinous offences”15 is the primary counter-terrorism legislation in Pakistan.
If the offence involves transportation of the victim into or out of Pakistan and it constitutes part of the transaction constituting the offence, the Federal Investigation Agency shall investigate the offence.
Compensation to victims—Where an offender is convicted of an - offence under this Act, the Court may direct payment of compensation to the victim under section 545 of the Code.
Any person who recruits, harbours, transports, provides or obtains another person, or attempts to do so, for compelled labour or commercial sex acts through the use of force, fraud or coercion, commits an offence of trafficking in persons and shall be punished with imprisonment. which may extend to seven years or with fine which may extend to one million rupees or with both.
Section 5 of the FIA Act contains the powers of the members of the Agency.
FIA was established under FIA Act, of 1974 promulgated on 13-01-1975.
An arrest under the FIA Act can be made After the commission of an offense and On reasonable suspicion of the commission of an offense.
A person arrested under FIA Act may be detained at a Police station set up by Police
According to The FIA Act of 1974, anyone not below the rank of a sub-inspector has the power to arrest someone without a warrant with permission from the DG FIA.
