White blood cells (WBC) are part of the immune system. They help fight infections and protect the body from other foreign bodies. When foreign infectious organisms attack on our immune system, white blood cells response against them and produced antibodies to fight against these infectious agents called antigens. Low white blood cells make you more susceptible to serious infections. Due to low white blood cells content, antibodies production also drcrease.
The cause of milk fever is a lack of sufficient calcium in the serum (hypocalcemia). At the end of the dry period, cows must undergo a sudden change in metabolism, switching from telogen to high performance. During the dry season, cattle have a relatively low need for calcium.
