Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental College was founded in 1875 by Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, initially as a primary school
after two years it became Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental College.
M.A.O college was to provide education to Muslims & Non-Muslims
MAO was inspired by the Cambridge education system.
MAO started operations on Queen Victoria's 56th birthday, 24 May 1875
Henry Siddons was the headmaster of the M.A.O school

In MAO Intermediate classes were started in 1878
in 1881 B.A. degree classes were added.
